UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — North Korea on Thursday called for the withdrawal of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo from talks over the nuclear issue between Washington and Pyongyang, blaming him for the current impasse.

“I am afraid that if Pompeiro takes part in the talks, they will stumble again,” North Korean Foreign Ministry Director-General Kun Jong-gun said, according to the official KCNA news agency.

“Therefore, in the event of a possible resumption of dialogue with the United States, I hope that our counterpart in the talks Pompeo.”

The remarks were published hours after the official North Korean news agency reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un supervised a test of a new “tactical weapon” of a new type.

It is the second time North Korea has confirmed its testing of a weapon since the start of its negotiations with the United States over its nuclear and ballistic programs in 2018.

It was the first experience since the summit between Kim and US President Donald Trump failed in Hanoi last February.
