North Korea ignores Washington’s call to stop weapons testing

North Korea’s ambassador to the United Nations on Friday ignored a US call to stop arms testing to allow talks with his country over its nuclear program and said Pyongyang would not pose a threat to any country as long as its interests were not violated. This was reported by Reuters.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said earlier at a UN Security Council meeting on Pyongyang that North Korea should “stop for a prolonged period of threat behavior” before Washington agrees to dialogue with it.

North Korean Ambassador Ja Song Nam did not mention Tillerson’s call in his speech to the session, which he described as “a desperate measure orchestrated by the United States for fear of the enormous power of our republic, which successfully achieved the great historic goal of completing the nuclear power of the state.”
