Representatives of the DPRK and South Korea held a telephone conversation on the restored “hotline” of communication at the border point of Panmunjom.

As the Yonhap News Agency reports, the call from the DPRK arrived at 15.30 local time.

It is noted that the parties have ascertained that the telephone connection and fax work in normal mode.

Earlier it was reported that Seoul invited Pyongyang to hold talks on January 9. It is expected that the countries will discuss the possible participation of the DPRK team in the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

Recall, the intention to send the national team to the Olympics, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said during the New Year’s address to the nation.

In turn, the administration of South Korean President Mun Zhe Ina welcomed the willingness of the DPRK leader to approve the participation of North Korean athletes in the Games.
