Netanyahu is threatening Hezbollah with a “devastating” strike if he attacks Israel

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Sunday that the Iranian-backed Hezbollah would launch a “devastating” blow to him if he attacked Israel.

“We heard during the weekend (Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan) Nasrallah praising his plans for an attack,” Netanyahu said during the weekly cabinet meeting.

If Hizbullah dared and misjudged Israel, we would pay a devastating military blow to it, “he said.

“Iran is capable of bombing Israel fiercely and forcefully,” Nasrallah said in an interview with his al-Manar television channel on Friday. “If there is a war on Iran, who said Israel would be neutralized?” He asked.

Nasrallah stressed that all the installations, facilities, ministries, factories and airports in the area stretching from Netanya to Ashdod “are under the range of our missiles and we can fly them,” pointing out that Hezbollah is able to reach “beyond Eilat.”

In recent years, Israel has stepped up its bombing in Syria, saying it targets Syrian army positions, Iranian and Hezbollah targets, and reiterates that it will continue to counter what it calls Iran’s attempts to consolidate its military presence in Syria and send advanced weapons to Hezbollah.

Hezbollah, which receives money and weapons from Tehran and facilitates Syria’s transfer of arms and ammunition, fought a war against Israel in 2006 that erupted after two soldiers kidnapped him near the border with Lebanon. Israel responded with a devastating attack, but it did not succeed in achieving its stated goal of eliminating Hezbollah, which showed the party at the end of the war internally the location of the victor.

Tension between the United States and Iran is mounting amid an escalation in the Gulf region and concerns over the continued nuclear deal, which has been threatened by Washington’s unilateral withdrawal and re-imposition of sanctions on Iran.
