NATO is abandoning a new cold war with Russia in favor of political dialogue.

“We must take into account the fact that we are dealing with a more self-confident Russia. At the same time, we do not want a repeat of the Cold War and the arms race, but we are in favor of a political dialogue with Moscow, even if it is not simple,” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

In particular, the secretary general called for an increase in the number of contacts between the alliance and Moscow, said in his interview with Deutsche Wirtschafts Nachrichten.

According to Stoltenberg, the world as a whole is becoming more dangerous and hostile, but the North Atlantic Alliance is also growing in parallel.

As it was reported, earlier Stoltenberg had already spoken about a dialogue with Russia in order to prevent a new cold war.

At the same time, the alliance intends to keep its contingent in Eastern Europe and the Baltic states “as long as it takes.”
