UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The Naval Command of NATO (MARCOM) removed images of Turkish divers spreading Turkish flag in the territorial waters of Greece from their Twitter account after Athens protested the publication of the images.

On March 19, the Turkish Ministry of Defense published in its official Twitter account pictures of a team of Turkish divers who performed de-mining missions under the sea during NATO maneuvers in Greek waters north of Crete.

One of the pictures showed two divers, who spread the flag of Turkey.

The NATO Naval Command re-published the tweet in its account and was forced to remove it after angry responses from the Greek side, which considered the actions of Turkish divers as a provocation.

According to Greek media, NATO has launched an investigation into the re-publication of this controversial Turkish tirade.
