UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — An American soldier in the NATO Resolute Support mission (NATO) died on Saturday in Afghanistan. This is stated in a statement published on the official website of the mission.

“A US soldier was killed July 13 in Afghanistan,” the text says. According to the policy pursued by the Pentagon, the mission does not have the right to disclose the name of the deceased within 24 hours after his death. During this time, the death of a soldier must be notified to his relatives. Also, the mission did not provide information about the exact place of death of a US citizen.

According to Reuters , since the beginning of 2019 at least seven American servicemen have been killed in Afghanistan.

Since January 1, 2015, the non-combat mission of NATO, “Strong support” of 13 thousand people, has been operating in Afghanistan. Its goal is to train and improve the professionalism of Afghan security, police and army personnel. In total, 15.5 thousand American soldiers are deployed in the country, assisted by about 7.5 thousand soldiers from NATO countries and partners.
