UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The giant asteroid “EA2” will pass closer to the Earth at a distance less than that between Earth and the moon, the US space agency NASA said on its Web site.
It is expected that the shortest distance between the asteroid and the Earth, on 22 March this year, about 305 thousand kilometers. That means less than 80,000 kilometers between Earth and Moon.
The flight speed of this asteroid is about 5 kilometers per second and is 18-40 meters in diameter.
In September, NASA announced that the asteroid “SP1” had approached the Earth, measuring 70 to 160 meters in length and orbiting 5.87 million kilometers from Earth.
