Mossad behind US accusations against Iran after “sabotage” of Emirati oil tankers?

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Accusing Tehran of involvement in the May 12 “sabotage” acts against four ships at the entrance to the Gulf of Oman, the United States relied partially on information presented by Mossad, writes The Times of Israel.

Mossad intelligence has allowed the United States to link Iran to the “sabotage” of four oil tankers off the Saudi port of Fujairah on May 12, The Times of Israel reports.

The United States must present this information, including the evidence collected by Israel, in the coming days, probably before the UN Security Council, the newspaper continues in an article published on June 3.

The paper also quoted an Israeli navy official as saying that Iran’s alleged attack on tankers was “pretty impressive.” According to him, the intelligence services had suggested that Tehran’s aim was to damage the ships without hurting the passengers.

Recall that in late May, John Bolton, Donald Trump’s national security advisor, said Tehran was “very likely” behind the attacks in question.

“There is no doubt in anyone’s mind in Washington about the identity of the person responsible for this situation,” said Mr. Bolton.

Iran has described the accusations of the US National Security Adviser as “laughable”.

On May 12, two Saudi oilmen, a Norwegian and an Emirati were damaged as a result of sabotage in the United Arab Emirates Exclusive Economic Zone in the Gulf of Oman. According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these acts of sabotage did not injure or cause the escape of harmful substances or fuel.
