UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The one and only permanent companion of Julian Assange since lately in his refuge at the Embassy of Ecuador in London, the cat Michie, is safe and will find his master “at liberty”, announced Wikileaks, satisfying the curiosity of those who have been concerned about the fate of the feline.
During his seven years as a refugee at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London , Wikileaks founder Julian Assange spent most of his time alone. However, his only companion was the Michie cat that he had adopted in 2016 and who enjoyed fame on social media.
Since Assange’s recent arrest, Embassy Cat fans – the cat’s nickname on Instagram – have been wondering what will happen to Wikileaks founder’s feline friend, according to news reports.
The company has unveiled the fate of Michie in a publication on his Twitter account. The tweet contains a video showing the cat sitting in front of a television screen broadcasting the moment of Assange’s arrest.

“We can confirm that Assange’s cat is safe. In mid-October, Assange asked his lawyers to save him from the embassy’s threats. They will be together once free,” says the caption accompanying the video.
Julian Assange was arrested on April 11. According to Wikileaks, the Ecuadorian ambassador has “invited” the police to arrest him. If he is extradited to the United States, Julian Assange could be sentenced to death for the publication of secret documents, say some experts. However, according to the US Department of Justice, he is only up to five years in prison.
Ecuador’s President Lenin Moreno said London had assured him that Julian Assange would not be extradited to the United States where he could be exposed to torture or even be sentenced to death.
