UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The company does not intend to change its plans, despite the fact that more than 50 employees turned to the leadership, insisting on the termination of cooperation with the military.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella refused to yield to the requirements of employees, outraged by the contract with the US Army.

In an interview with CNN Business, Nadella said: “We made a principled decision: we are not going to refuse technologies to the institutions we chose in democratic states to protect the freedoms we support. We were very transparent in this decision and we will continue this dialogue [by staff]”.

Last week, more than 50 Microsoft employees published a letter to Nadelle demanding that company management terminate a contract with the US Army worth $ 749 million, suggesting the provision of HoloLens augmented reality technology to soldiers.

“We did not subscribe to the development of weapons, and we demand the right to vote when using our work,” the letter says. “As employees and shareholders, we don’t want to become speculators in the war.”

Later, with reference to one of the employees of the IT giant, Business Insider reported that the number of people who signed the letter to Nadelle exceeded 200.

The contract Microsoft won over competitors such as Magic Leap last November aims to create “a single platform that soldiers can use for combat, rehearsal, and training that provides the increased lethality, mobility and situational awareness needed to achieve an advantage compared to our current and future adversaries.”

A recent backlash at Microsoft is the latest in a series of protests by technical staff members who are upset about their companies’ participation in disputed contracts with government agencies, ranging from the military to the immigration department.
