UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Microsoft has announced a new, tenth, version of the game Minecraft – with elements of augmented reality. Beta testing will start this summer.

With Minecraft inspiring so many games in the genre — just look at this article on hytale vs minecraft compared to see what we mean — it’s only fair that Minecraft takes inspiration from another game for once. In this case, it’s Pokemon Go. This version of the game is called Minecraft Earth. Players will have to go outside to find materials for construction and see what their friends have done in the world of augmented reality, reports The Verge website.

Minecraft director Torfi Olafsson said that the development team “covered the entire planet”: for example, in real lakes you can “catch” virtual fish, and in parks you can chop virtual firewood. Players will also have to look for artifacts hidden around the world, for the discovery of which they will receive awards. To create Microsoft, Minecraft Earth has developed maps of randomly generated “adventures” based on OpenStreetMap data.

These can be “peaceful inserts” or dangerous quests in which players will have to fight monsters. Players will be able to fight monsters, developing tactics together.

“The game will begin when players have different opinions about what is going to happen, or they will unite and do something meaningful,” says Sax Persson, creative director of Minecraft.

The Verge writes that more information about Minecraft Earth will be made public at the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference in June.

In 2016, the game with the elements of augmented reality Pokémon Go, which was launched by Google-born company Niantic by John Hank, caused a stir. Pokemon Go revenues reached $ 1 billion in a record time – just seven months. According to Nielsen’s SuperData, in March 2019, Pokémon Go remained in the top 5 mobile games by revenue.
