UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Responding to US Vice President Mike Pence who compared him to Adolf Hitler, Nicolas Maduro lashed out at US support for invasions and coups, denouncing the “800 military bases around the world” in their wake.

President Nicolas Maduro strongly criticized Wednesday the US Vice President Mike Pence, who drew a parallel between the Venezuelan government and Nazi Germany during his speech at the UN.

“Mike Pence compared me to Adolf Hitler,” he said in a televised address , adding that Adolf Hitler was “on the other side” of the hemisphere.

“Suprematists, fascists, racists are not in Venezuela, but in the North,” he said.

“Never in life have I ordered you to invade another city and I will never do it,” Maduro added. Before continuing, “We are not a people with military bases in the world, like you Mr. Pence, with 800 military bases around the world. They invade, they bomb the peoples of the world.

The political crisis in Venezuela erupted when the opponent Juan Guaido, dismissed on 22 January from the post of President of the National Assembly on decision of the Supreme Court, proclaimed himself the following day “President in office of the country”, taking the oath in the street.

More than fifty countries, led by the United States, have recognized him as a legitimate head of state. The re-elected President Nicolas Maduro has meanwhile denounced an attempted coup orchestrated by the opposition with the support of Washington. Russia, China and several other countries have supported Nicolas Maduro.
