UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, on Saturday blamed the enemies of the country for attacks on the power supply system using high-tech weapons.
“They used the weapon of high technology. <…> The right-wing extremists from the opposition are the authors and performers of these attacks against the country, and they used high technology, which only the US government has in the world, used high-tech weapons. And we will know all this because God is always on our side, and the truth will come from where, how and who did it,” said Maduro at a rally of his supporters in Caracas. His speech was broadcast on the president’s Facebook page.
“These attacks were carried out with the use of high scientific achievements, there were electromagnetic attacks against the national electric lines,” the president said.
The energy collapse in Venezuela occurred on March 7 due to an accident at the country’s largest hydroelectric power station, El Guri. The National Electricity Corporation (Corpoelec) described the incident as sabotage and an episode of the energy war against Venezuela. Maduro had previously accused American imperialism of unleashing it.
According to the head of Venezuela, an electric, economic, financial, political and conspiratorial war is being committed against the country. “It aims to damage Venezuela and its entire population without separation and analysis. This will never happen, but I will say: if one day the Americans dare to take criminal military actions against the country, as requested by the opposition, will the bombs fall only on Chavista? …> We have to keep this in mind, and the Bolivarian people must understand that they carry security, stability, peace on their shoulders, we are the guarantors of helping our homeland,” said Maduro.
Also, the Venezuelan president said that in the event of a power outage, he gave an order to guarantee the supply of food to the population on Monday. Separately, he ordered the provision of assistance to hospitals throughout the country and to deliver drinking water in tanks to Venezuelans’ houses.
