French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday hailed strong French-British relations despite the EU’s withdrawal from the European Union but stressed it would not allow the British financial sector to have privileges to enter the European single market.
“I have one demand that the single market be maintained,” Macron said at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Teresa Mae. It is one of the basic principles of the European Union.”
“It is now up to the British side. There can be no privileges to enter a single market that includes financial services.”
