UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — At least one car bomb exploded in the Syrian city of Raqqa, controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces, and local Kurdish and Arab media reported a number of casualties.
Kurdish news websites reported that a mine exploded, followed by two car bombs, killing women and children. Local Arab Web sites said at least four people died in the blast.
There has been a steady increase in attacks on areas controlled by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, most of which lie east of the Euphrates River.
Syria’s democratic forces, which form Kurdish protection units, have warned most of its members that the organization of the Islamic state will intensify its attacks after losing the last pocket in Syria.
