Killings in Raqqa, Moscow calls for help

SYRIA, RAQQA (VOP TODAY NEWS) – Russian Defense calls for the formation of an international commission to examine the humanitarian situation in the city of Raqqa, a Syrian strategic city on the Euphrates.

In a statement issued to the UN Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu proposes the formation of an international commission to examine the humanitarian situation in Raqqa in Syria.

On Tuesday, 27 February, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov described the humanitarian situation in Raqqa and al-Tanf, two localities controlled by the US coalition, as “critical”.

The city has fallen to 80% and remains without electricity or drinking water.

According to the Russian Defense, 40,000 people live in Raqqa. This city was populated with more than 200,000 people before the strikes of the American coalition.

According to the Russian agency ITAR-TASS, more than 60,000 refugees are forced into al-Rukban camp where the situation is more than precarious. This refugee camp is under American control.
