UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) – The Israeli embassy in Russia declined to comment on Moscow’s decision to supply Syria with S-300 systems, and its spokesman, Alex Gendler, told Interfax on Monday that “we do not comment on that!”

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shweigo said Monday that Russia would supply the Syrian army within two weeks with S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems.

In April 2018, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman warned that Israel would strike S-300 missile systems in Syria if Damascus was supplied and used against Israeli targets. “It is important for us not to use the defensive weapons Russia is carrying against us, and if it is used against us, we will take action to strike it,” he told the Yedioth Ahronoth website on Wednesday.

“We have an open line with Russia, we have discussions, for several years we are in constant coordination and are able to avoid friction with the Russian side,” the minister said at the time.
