IRLANDE (VOP TODAY NEWS) – In Ireland, a referendum on the liberalization of legislation on abortion will be held on May 25.
This is reported by Sky News referring to the decision of the Irish government.
It is noted that Ireland has one of the most stringent legislation regarding the use of abortion in Europe.
Citizens in the referendum will have to answer whether they want to keep the eighth amendment of the Irish constitution on the prohibition of abortion, or to abolish it.
In January 2018, the Prime Minister of Ireland Leo Varadkar said that the referendum on abortion will be held in the country in late May.
On March 11, it was reported that tens of thousands of demonstrators took part in a rally against abortion in Dublin.
