Iran’s Foreign Ministry has denounced the US plan to establish a military force near the Syrian border with Turkey and Iraq as “flagrant interference” in Syrian domestic affairs, Press TV reported on Tuesday.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasimi said the US plan was “a clear example” of interference in Syrian internal affairs, complicating the crisis and leading to instability.
Qasimi urged Washington to change so-called “destructive” policies in the Middle East.
Turkey has also criticized the US decision to establish a new border army with the Kurdish Popular Protection Units in Syria to protect the Turkish and Iraqi borders with Syria.
The US-led coalition issued a written statement on Sunday and confirmed it would set up 30,000 new border security forces with the Syrian Democratic Forces led by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units.
