UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Guardians of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian Army have full control of the Persian Gulf north of the Strait of Hormuz and monitor US ships deployed in this area, according to the Fars agency that refers to Admiral Ali Fadavi.
The Iranian armed forces control the movements of US warships north of the Strait of Hormuz- East, said Wednesday, May 22, the deputy commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards (GRI), Admiral Ali Fadavi, quoted by Fars agency.
“The warships in the Persian Gulf are under the complete control of the GRI naval force and the army, there is nothing to fear,” said the admiral without providing further details.
Al-Mayadeen announced on Wednesday that the Iranian Navy command intends to send a naval group led by Corvette Bayandor into international waters “to ensure the security of the lines of communication and fight against piracy.” The channel did not say in which part of the world the Iranian naval group would be dispatched.
At least seven US Navy ships, including the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, and a battery of Patriot anti-aircraft missiles have recently been deployed in the Persian Gulf following the surge around Iran.
According to the Pentagon, it is a response to “indications of improved Iranian preparations to conduct offensive operations against the forces US and our interests.” The area of deployment of these means is kept secret.
