UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — India said on Saturday it had asked the United States to investigate Pakistan’s alleged use of F-16 fighter jets in a raid on an Indian aircraft last month.
“We have asked the United States to consider whether the use of F-16 fighter jets is consistent with the terms and conditions of the sale,” Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ravish Kumar told reporters.
“India has eyewitnesses and electronic evidence that Pakistan used F-16 fighter jets,” he said.
The Indian news agency “ANI” on Saturday, sources in the Indian army did not name that a Pakistani plane was shot down as it approached the airspace of the state of Rajasthan.
The Pakistani side did not immediately comment on the ISI report.
The two neighbors exchanged raids amid international concern since tensions escalated on February 14 following an armed attack on a police patrol in the Indian-controlled part of disputed Kashmir, killing more than 40 policemen and injuring 20 others.
