Hamas warns Israel

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (VOP TODAY NEWS) — “If the Israeli regime does not benefit from this real opportunity to exchange prisoners, this issue could fall into oblivion or be completely closed,” said the spokesman for the military wing of Hamas.

Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, said on Tuesday (July 23rd) that the prisoner exchange file could fall into oblivion or be completely closed in case Israel loses this real opportunity.

“The case of Ron Arad is a lesson to be learned. There is no guarantee that this issue will remain on the table if the occupying regime’s officials lose this opportunity, “Abu Obeida said.

Ron Arad, an Israeli aviation pilot, was captured by the Palestinian Resistance following the crash of his fighter jet in 1986, and Israel’s attempts to recover it all failed.

The Hamas official said Israel was trying to justify its neglect of prisoners detained by the Resistance saying that “they are bodies and remains.”

“If this hypothesis is correct, why did not they take the initiative to realize the dream of their families to bring back these corpses, knowing that the price they will have to pay for the bodies is modest compared to the living people ? Abu Obeida said.

“The biggest example of the procrastination and lies of the government and military leaders of the enemy is the issue of the missing person in Gaza, Mengistu, the Ethiopian Jew. We affirm that the occupation did not raise any case with the mediators and the enemy did not try to know if Mengistu is dead or alive, “Abu Obeida said.

Israeli media reported that Mengistu disappeared in September 2014 in the Gaza Strip.

The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades announced, for the first time, in April 2015, that they detained four Israeli soldiers without indicating whether they are dead or alive.
