Researchers from Princeton University found that stealing passwords and confidential information of users can be through advertising on the Web. A special script can steal data contained in the browser, reports TechRadar.

The virus “peeks” for the user and collects data about passwords stored in the browser.

According to experts, the script, which is contained in the usual banner advertising on the Internet, is able to collect data about e-mail and passwords.

This happens when the browser fills in the login and password on the site, downloading data from the password manager.

At this time, the script steals information. The virus does not always steal the password, for example, sometimes it’s enough for it’s bank card data and the user’s location.

Experts advised the creators of browsers to better protect the built-in password managers.

While the system is not ideal, experts recommend disabling automatic saving of logins and passwords on sites and entering them manually.
