UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) – Personal data of Pentagon employees, including banking information, was reportedly hacked, the Associated Press reported, noting that the leak would have affected about 30,000 people, a number that is still likely to rise.
The Pentagon said on Oct. 12 that there had been a cyber-attack targeting personal information and credit card data from US military and civilian personnel, the Associated Press reported.
According to a US official familiar with the case, the cyberattack could have affected up to 30,000 employees, but this number could increase as the investigation progresses.
The security breach may be a few months old, but it was discovered only recently.
An official said on condition of anonymity that no confidential information had been compromised, said Associates Press.
