Gaza: 56 Palestinians injured in clashes with Israeli soldiers

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (VOP TODAY NEWS) — At least 56 Palestinians were wounded on Friday in clashes with Israeli soldiers in the eastern Gaza Strip near the border with Israel.

Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qedra told reporters that 38 of them were shot and wounded by live ammunition.

There are 22 children and three wounded Palestinian women, and Israeli soldiers targeted a medical ambulance, Al-Qedra said.

The clashes took place as hundreds of Gazans participated in weekly demonstrations of the “Great March of Return”, east of Gaza.

The weekly rally calls on Israel to end the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip since Hamas took control of the coastal enclave by force in 2007.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the Israeli army has killed 306 Palestinians and injured more than 17,000 since the beginning of these regular demonstrations.
