France: Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan is contrary to international law

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — France does not recognize Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights and its recognition runs counter to international law, the French Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

“The Golan is a land occupied by Israel since 1967, and France does not recognize Israel’s annexation in 1981,” the ministry said in a regular daily report.

“Recognition of Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan, an occupied territory, will run counter to international law, especially the obligation not to recognize an illegal status.”
