The US federal government suspended its work on Saturday after the administration of President Donald Trump failed to persuade Democratic senators to sign a law on extending funding for government agencies, the US media writes.

On the eve of Trump invited the leader of the democratic minority in the Senate Chuck Schumer to the White House to try to come to an agreement and prevent the suspension of the government.

The House of Representatives of the US Congress earlier approved a bill on the temporary extension of financing the work of the government until mid-February. The senators had to take a decision on this issue by the senators until the end of the day on Friday, January 19, to exclude the suspension of the government’s work. However, the document was not adopted by the US Senate.

Thus, all US federal agencies must now send employees on vacation.

Earlier, the White House said he was willing to “shumerovskoy suspension of the government” and accused the Senate Minority Leader is that it “imposes” a situation of US citizens.

Over the past four months, US lawmakers have already four times decided on a short-term extension of funding, because they could not agree on key issues of fiscal policy.

The main disputes centered around immigration policy. Donald Trump scandalous statements about immigrants from Haiti and Africa, reported last week, only heightened tensions in the Congress.

The budget of the Ministry of Defense was also considered a problem. Republicans proposed to increase the amount allocated for defense, while Democrats demanded to expand non-military budget items.

In addition, the parties differed in their views on the financing of social insurance.
