The asteroid that exploded Tuesday night in the US state of Michigan has released energy equivalent to 100 tons of TNT.
The power of the meteorite blast spotted Tuesday in the US’s Detroit skyline reached the equivalent of 100 tonnes of TNT, the NASA Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, said.
After questioning witnesses and making his own calculations, the Space Agency retraced the celestial body course and published a diagram on Facebook.

“We concluded that the meteorite was moving at a very moderate speed at only 45.06 km / h (12.52 m / sec). This fact, combined with the intensity of the brightness, (…) shows that the object has deeply penetrated the atmosphere before breaking up, “says the message posted on the social network.
According to Nasa expert Bill Cooke, the explosion of the meteorite was followed by a shock wave and a loud noise that seriously frightened the residents of the southeastern part of the state.
Touching the ground near Walled Lake, the phenomenon was also caused by a magnitude 2 earthquake.
