UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The European Union said on Friday it did not recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, following comments by US President Donald Trump in which he called for it.

“The European Union’s position does not change,” a spokeswoman told Reuters. “The EU does not recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the territories it occupies since June 1967, including the Golan Heights, and does not consider it part of Israeli sovereignty.”
