UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — In Ethiopia, the plane Boeing-737 airline Ethiopian Airlines has crashed shortly after taking off.
“The Boeing 737-800 MAX with ET-AVJ registration number took off at 08:38 local time from the Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa and lost contact at 08:44,” the Ethiopian reported in a press release.
It clarifies the airline, the tragedy occurred near the city of Debre Zeit.
According to preliminary data, there were 149 passengers and eight crew members on board. There is no information about survivors or possible victims. On-site rescuers work.
It is not yet known whether the Russians were aboard the crashed Boeing, Oleg Kiporenko, head of the consular department of the Russian embassy in Kenya, told RIA Novosti. He added that Russian citizens, as a rule, often fly Ethiopian airlines because of the cheapness of tickets.
