UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on his new post.
This came in a telephone conversation between the two sides, on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the Turkish Presidential Liaison Service.
The statement said that Erdogan congratulated Johnson on his new position and wished him success in his duties.
Erdogan stressed during the conversation that Turkey and Britain are important strategic partners, according to the statement.
He expressed confidence that relations between the two countries during the new phase will develop in all fields.
On July 23, the Conservative Party announced that Johnson, the party’s leader and prime minister, had succeeded in succeeding former Prime Minister Terza Mai, who resigned from her post last June.
