Egyptian President extends state of emergency in the country

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi signed a decree on extending the state of emergency in the country for three months. This is reported by Egypt Today with reference to the publication of the official newspaper.

As noted, the state of emergency is extended from 1:00 on Saturday, January 13.

According to the decree, the armed forces and the police are given all the powers to fight terrorism and ensure security.

A violation of the President’s orders during the state of emergency in the country faces imprisonment.

The regime of emergency in Egypt was introduced after the explosions occurred near churches in Alexandria and Tanta, the victims of which were more than 40 people. Responsibility for the attacks was assumed by the terrorist group Islamic State.
