UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — According to the official Syrian news agency SANA, residents of the city of al-Shuhail in the suburb of Deir ez-Zor, capital of the homonymous province, demonstrated against the Syrian Democratic Forces, most of whose members are Kurdish activists backed by Washington.

During the attack on the Kurdish elements against the protesters, at least seven civilians lost their lives. This intensified the anger of the population.

According to local sources, a group of SDF militants laid siege to al-Shuhail neighborhood in Deir ez-Zor district for two hours.

When the SDS attempted to besiege the area, US helicopters flew over the area at low altitude and simultaneously with air strikes, SDF forces fired at locals.

Sources told the Syrian official SANA news agency that during the US and SDF attacks, six civilians were killed and at least four other civilians were injured.

After killing and wounding these people, Kurdish activists also arrested a number of al-Shuhail residents. A SANA journalist also reported that another civilian had been killed by the SDF.

For two weeks now, residents of many parts of Deir ez-Zor province have been staging protests against Kurdish militants and US forces in the region and demanding their withdrawal.
