At least 12 people were killed in a fire in one of the houses in the New York quarter of the Bronx, the Mayor of the city Bill De Blazio told reporters.

The Associated Press quotes the representative of the mayoralty who said that the exact number of victims has not yet been established, it will “grow, it’s terrible”.

The fire arose in a five-story building, not equipped with an elevator. About 170 firefighters took part in the fight against fire. To date, the fire is localized, the Associated Press reports.
