The beginning of the military actions of Turkey in Syrian Afrin will be perceived by Damascus as an act of aggression against the sovereignty of the country.

This was stated on Thursday by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic, Faisal Mikdad.

Earlier, Anadolu agency reported that the Turkish General Staff ordered the troops on the border with Syria to be on high alert for a possible operation in Africa. The planned start of military operations in the area against the armed formations of Syrian Kurds YPG was also announced by the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag.

“We warn the leadership of Turkey – if it starts military operations in the Afrin region, it will be perceived as an act of aggression by the Turkish army regarding the sovereignty of the territory of Syria,” Mikdad commented.
