Czech Prime Minister Andrzej Papys’s minority government lost a confidence vote on Tuesday as expected, opening the way for potentially lengthy talks to form a new government.
Anou, the anti-BNP-led party, won the largest number of votes in the October election by a wide margin but could not achieve a parliamentary majority. Other parties later refused to back the proposed government, mainly because Babic was under investigation for fraud allegations. Babic denies any wrongdoing.
The government now has to resign, but it will probably continue for weeks or months as Babesh seeks to reach agreement with other parties that might support a new government led by Babesh or otherwise.
