A cup of coffee a week reduces the risk of stroke

Coffee lovers can celebrate – the results of the next study show that only one cup of coffee a week helps reduce the risk of stroke and heart failure. During the study, the authors observed for 27 years 2750 participants.

The scientists collected data on the health of the participants’ hearts, as well as their diet.

It turned out that each cup of coffee, drunk during the week, reduced the risk of stroke by 7%, and the risk of developing heart failure by 8%. The findings confirm the preliminary results of earlier studies, which argued that drinking coffee can reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.

David Kao of the University of Colorado School of Medicine explains that the factors that affect the occurrence of heart disease have been identified with the help of artificial intelligence. As expected, among the risk factors was age, high cholesterol, high blood pressure. Coffee, as it turned out, had a beneficial effect, reducing the likelihood of developing diseases.

The authors believe that the use of artificial intelligence in such studies will help to detect other factors that affect the development of certain diseases, increasing or decreasing the risk of their occurrence.

However, scientists do not yet know exactly how coffee reduces the risk of stroke and heart failure. The authors also failed to find out whether there is that weekly “dose” of coffee, after which the beneficial effect disappears.
