Coffee can trigger migraines

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Drinking large amounts of coffee can trigger migraine attacks. That is why the fact that often suffers from headaches should reduce the use of this drink or completely abandon it.

A team of scientists from Harvard published their study in The American Journal of Medicine. The authors concluded that already three caffeinated drinks per day increase the likelihood of migraine on the same day or the next. One or two drinks did not have such an effect.

In order to come to such conclusions, the authors studied data on nearly 100 adults suffering from migraines . Headaches occurred at least 2 times a month, but no more than 15 times.

The study participants were asked to fill out a questionnaire and indicate in it how many times and when they drank coffee (or other drinks with caffeine), and also note the days of the occurrence of migraines. On average, experiment participants drank coffee 8 times a week.

The authors explain that not only caffeine is guilty of the appearance of migraines – other factors undoubtedly also contribute. However, refusing coffee is actually able to reduce the risk of migraines.
