Earlier, Beijing has repeatedly criticized Washington and other countries for interfering in Hong Kong affairs, which the PRC authorities call China’s internal affairs.
So, in early August, Beijing addressed to American diplomats in Hong Kong demanding “to stop interfering” in the affairs of the city. Representatives of the American diplomatic service were caught communicating with participants in protests.
