Canada confirms abduction of two citizens in Ghana

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Canadian citizens have been kidnapped in Ghana and are working closely with local authorities to resolve the matter, the Canadian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

The ministry said in a statement that the families of the abductees had learned of the matter and were receiving assistance without giving further details.

The State Department did not confirm reports in local media that the abduction took place on Monday and that two women were abducted.

3 News in Ghana said they were in the country as part of a university exchange program in Kumasi.
