Burkina Faso celebrates the 57th anniversary of its independence

More than 5,000 Burkinabe civilians and soldiers marched Monday in Gaoua, about 400km southwest of Ouagadougou, in the presence of President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, celebrating the 57th anniversary of the independence of their country.

This year, the celebration is under the theme “Cultural Diversity and Responsible Citizenship for a Solidarity and Harmonious Burkina Faso”.

In a message sent the day before to his compatriots, President Kaboré emphasized that the solidity of the social fabric always resided in reality and the permanent practice of dialogue and consultation.

“More than ever, we must draw from our roots, the energies indispensable to revive the flame of solidarity, guarantee of a laborious and responsible citizenship, indispensable to a national life bringing harmony and well-being for all”, he said.

“Nobody will come to build Burkina Faso for us, because we must be the actors fully aware of our own destiny,” said the head of state.
