British Foreign Office: Assange will not be extradited to US if he faces a death penalty

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Britain will not issue the founder of WikiLeaks Julian Assange USA, if there he will face the death penalty, said in the broadcast channel Sky News on Thursday, Deputy Head of the British Foreign Ministry Alan Duncan.

“This is our general policy under any circumstances, and it equally applies to Julian Assange. Therefore, he will not be extradited if he faces the death penalty,” said Duncan.

On Thursday, Assange was arrested by the London police in the Ecuadorian embassy in the British capital. Earlier it was reported that Ecuador decided to deny Assange asylum.

Later, the British Foreign Office thanked the Government of Ecuador for helping to arrest the founder of WikiLeaks.
