Bomb was thrown at the Russian consulate in Athens

Black could over Hellenic Parliament, Athens, Greece

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Bombers on a motorcycle threw an explosive device, possibly a grenade, at the Russian consulate in Athens early on Friday, police said.

“It is likely to be a grenade,” a police official told Reuters. There are no injuries.”

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack on the consulate in the Kalandri district of Athens and police cordoned off the area.

In 2016, a security guard was injured in a similar attack on the French embassy in central Athens.

Small-scale attacks in Greece target companies, police headquarters, politicians and embassies in light of a long history of political violence.
