UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — John Bolton, the US national security adviser, said it was unacceptable for Syria or Iran to control the occupied Golan.

“To allow the Syrian or Iranian regime to control the Golan Heights would mean taking away the brutal crimes of (Syrian President Bashar) Assad and Iran’s destabilizing presence in the region,” Bolton said Friday in a tweet posted on his Twitter account.

“Strengthening Israel’s security reinforces our ability to meet common challenges,” Bolton said.

The comment came a day after US President Donald Trump said it was “time for the United States to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan, which is vital to Israel’s security and stability in the region.”

According to the agency “Reuters” quoting a senior official in the US administration that work is under way to prepare a document formally recognizes the sovereignty of Israel on the Golan may be concluded during the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington next week.
