UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The League of Arab States expressed satisfaction with the decisions on political transformation in Sudan announced by the head of the transitional military council Abdel Fattah al-Borkan, the office of the regional organization reported on Sunday.
The Arab League also declared its “support for the efforts of the transitional military council and political civilian forces.”
“The League of Arab States expressed satisfaction with the important steps announced by the head of the transitional military council Abdel Fattah al-Borkan regarding political transformation,” the organization said in a statement.
In Sudan, there was a coup on Thursday, President Omar al-Bashir, who had been in power continuously for 30 years, was taken into custody. The power was taken by the military.
Now the Transitional Military Council is headed by Abdel Fattah al-Borkan, who announced the cancellation of the curfew and state of emergency introduced earlier. He announced that the term of the council’s work would be a maximum of two years, and confirmed the obligation to transfer power to a civilian government.
