UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — American Airlines has announced in a statement that it has “temporarily” suspended flights to and from Venezuela due to “security” issues.
Speaking of security concerns, American Airlines said on Friday (March 15th) in a statement that it had suspended flights to and from Venezuela.
“The safety of our teams and our customers has always been our number one priority. American can not serve countries that it does not consider safe, “said American Airlines in this document.
This airline usually operates three daily flights from Miami, Florida, to Venezuela, including two to Caracas.
Venezuela is plunged into a political crisis since the beginning of the year. On January 23, the opponent Juan Guaido, dismissed the day before the post of President of the National Assembly by decision of the Supreme Court, proclaimed himself “President in office of the country” and was sworn in during a demonstration.
The United States has recognized him as “Acting President”, followed by some 50 other countries, including France and Germany. China, Russia, Turkey and Mexico have supported the government. President Nicolas Maduro, who was sworn in for his second term on Jan. 10, called Juan Guaido a US puppet.
