The Kosovo Albanian police on Friday disarmed a group of Albanians, taking out pistols and cold steel, in the village of Livadzha in Kosovo, Prishtina information portal koha.net reported, citing local law enforcement agencies.
Livagzha, where mostly Serbs live, borders on the village of Laple-Selo, which on Saturday evening should be visited by Serbian President Alexander Vučić.
It is reported that a group of six Albanians, who were in one of the local cafes, seized two pistols, ammunition, two metal truncheons and two knives.
After the interrogation, the detainees were released, the case against them was instituted according to the usual procedure.
In connection with the visit of the Serbian leader in Kosovo, local law enforcement agencies have taken enhanced security measures.
The Kosovo Albanian authorities, with the support of the United States and the leading EU countries, proclaimed independence from Serbia in 2008.
Belgrade does not recognize Kosovo’s sovereignty, but also has no control over its southern autonomy, which was lost in 1999 after the NATO bombings.
