The terrorist organization Al-Nusra Front, is responsible for the attacks on the Russian airbase Khemeymim, as it is this group that controls the areas from which the attacks were conducted, the Izvestia newspaper reported on Wednesday referring to the Syrian Defense Ministry.
Jebhat al-Nusra is currently in full control of Idlib, as well as areas bordering other provinces, including Latakia, from which attacks on the Russian base of Khmeimim were committed.
“This group is leading in that area and receives assistance from the US. Other gangs, whether they are the Free Syrian Army, Failak Ar-Rahman or even some others, all are subordinated to Al-Nusra,” – the publication of the words of the head of the information department of the political department of the Ministry of Defense of Syria, brigadier general Samir Suleiman.
According to Suleiman, “Al-Nusra uses any methods to stop the successful offensive against the militants in Idlib, which is conducted by the Syrian army with the support of the Russian military.”
This information is confirmed by the source of the publication in Russian military-diplomatic circles. According to him, “Defense Ministry suspects of attacking the airbase Khmeimim “precisely the rebels” An-Nusra Front.”
The fact that this group is responsible for the attack on Khmeimim, do not doubt the Syrian parliament, the newspaper said.
“Behind the attacks is Al-Nusra. The reason for the beginning of the advancement of the Syrian army with the support of Russian military intelligence from the north-east of the province of Khama in the direction of Idlib province. In recent days terrorists have lost control over more than 90 settlements. Due to the difficult situation , in which militants turned out, they carry out such attacks,” the deputy of the Syrian parliament from the ruling Arab Socialist Revival Party (BAAS), a veteran of the current war, Muhannad Ali al-Haj Ali, quotes the edition as saying.
According to him, most likely, the drones that carried out the attack, “Al-Nusra” received from the US, because they “have a lot of experience in the production of such vehicles”.
