Yahoo says that a 2013 breach affected all 3 billion of its accounts, tripling the number originally reported, as cited by Associated Press.
Yahoo, the internet company acquired by Verizon Communications Inc. this year, now believes all 3 billion of its users in 2013 were affected by a previously disclosed security breach, said Bloomberg.
The new assessment, made based on new intelligence obtained after the acquisition, compares with Yahoo’s initial estimate that 1 billion users were affected. The information stolen didn’t include passwords in clear text, payment data or bank accounts.

The hacked user information included phone numbers, birth dates, and security questions. Yahoo states that the hacked information did not include passwords in clear text, payment card data, or bank account information.
Yahoo said it is sending out email notifications to the remaining user accounts that did not receive a notification in 2016.
